TAX EXTENSION REQUEST

Automatic Extensions & Who This Process is For

We automatically submit extensions for all clients who:

· Have not booked an appointment close to the filing deadline.

· Have an appointment scheduled after the filing deadline.

This process is specifically for clients who believe they will owe taxes and need an approximate amount to pay by the April 15 deadline to avoid additional penalties and interest given the information you provide us with. Additionally, if applicable, you may receive Estimated Tax Payments to pay (also known as quarterly payments.)

Important Note:

  • · A tax extension only extends the time to file your return, NOT the time to pay.
  • · If you owe and do not pay by April 15, you will begin accruing penalties and interest on any unpaid balance. The IRS has recently increased interest and penalty rates multiple times, reflecting rising federal rates. These higher rates result in greater charges for unpaid taxes, making timely payments more crucial.
  • · We are no longer accepting checks for IRS and state entities at our office or mailing extension payments on behalf of clients.
  • · It is your responsibility to mail your payment directly to the IRS or pay online via the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov/payments

Deadline to Request an Extension with Calculation: March 2

2. We Calculate an Estimated Owing Amount

  • If no taxes are owed, we will file an extension on your behalf at no additional charge.

3. Receiving Your Estimated Tax Amount

  • Once we have completed your tax estimate, we will provide you with the calculated amount before the deadline. Please allow a few weeks for us to complete the process.
  • It is your responsibility to submit payment to the IRS by April 15 to avoid penalties.
